Roll-to-Roll Line Planning Guide

The web, roll, tension and interface data needed before configuring a roll-to-roll production module.

Document the web and roll

Material stiffness, surface condition and dimensional range affect rollers, tension control and the web path. Provide both nominal and maximum values.

  • Material name, structure and thickness
  • Minimum and maximum web width
  • Roll diameter, core size and roll weight
  • Sensitive surface or cleanliness requirements

Define tension and guiding needs

State the acceptable tension range and whether edge guiding, centering, buffering or splice operations are required. Include any existing source of tension data.

Describe the connected process

Unwinding and rewinding modules must be matched to coating, drying, laminating, exposure, cutting or inspection equipment. Share line speed, height, direction and control-signal expectations.
