1. Define the process target
Begin with what must change in the material or workpiece. Drying, curing, aging, preheating and heat treatment can require different temperature profiles, airflow and cycle control.
- Required operating temperature and allowable ramp rate
- Required hold time or total cycle
- Moisture, solvent or other material released during heating
- Atmosphere or cleanliness requirement
2. Document the workpiece and loading method
Chamber size cannot be selected from workpiece dimensions alone. The number of parts per batch, spacing, racks, trays and carts all affect airflow and usable volume.
- Maximum part dimensions and weight
- Parts per batch and batches per shift
- Rack, tray or cart dimensions
- Manual, trolley or automatic loading
3. Confirm site conditions
The equipment proposal also depends on available electrical supply, exhaust, floor space and the relationship to upstream and downstream equipment.
- Available voltage and frequency
- Exhaust or cooling utilities
- Doorways and installation access
- Factory layout and service clearance
